As my postcard partner lives somewhat close to me, we decided to meet up in a neighbourhood near both of us. But we would let each other know of our whereabouts via Live Locations. Our postcards are 2 halves that complete each other when they are put together, so that was the main reason we needed to meet in person.

Route made with a
spaghetti string
we talked about our favroutie dish, my peer had spaghetti bolognese as fav. i came up with the idea to use a cooked spaghetti string to make a route to the postbox.
It was fun to do look at where i was able to get off the road, and realy follow the string

I live in the student hotel so I asked one of receptionist to draw me a map to the mailbox which was about 15 minutes walk, there are 2 ways to go to the mail box, the receptionist decided to make me use the main roads, I normally use the smaller streets because it's nicer and I think a bit faster.
Eva and I live close by, so we decided to meet up instead of mailing the post cards. We both live near metro, so that was our meeting spot.

Because Yara only lived about only 15 minutes away from me, I decided to walk without a map. This because the last few months I've gotten to know the neighborhood a little bit better and I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could walk to some place without a map. To make it a little bit harder I took a detour. And the good thing is that I got there without a map :). So it was a fun challenge to do.

For my walk to the postbox I decided to use an app I heard about, but hadnt tried out yet. It's called randonautica and will generate random coordinates close to you. I generated a point and walked there, and then pretty quickly found a postbox nearby. It was really fun to do it this way because i usually would never have a reason to go to this part of town, and it felt more like an adventure than a chore now.

for the walk to the box i only made right turns and for the walk back home i only made left turns.
During my trip i made photos of obstacles i had to walk around.
But first I had to make the letter.
I choose to get out the house and ask information about mailboxes or the postal office as a method of finding my way. It was the way that fitted me the most because back home everybody ask's informations to strangers this made me used to it .
Ready to go!!! OUTCOME=comparison of the route I did VS route suggested by the post.nl web-site.

I walked for 10 minutes and I found a post office and asked to the cashier where the closest mailbox was, she showed me how to find the nearest one to you on postNL.nl

This morning I made my postcard, but totally forgot to post it during the day. At 21:16 I remembered that I still needed to post my card. I was kinda sad, because of the curfew I wasn't able to do it anymore today... OR WAS I????
The idea of sneaking around the streets after 21:00 in curfew times is already something that is in my mind for quite a time, but I was always to pussy to actually do it. Not today, this assignment opened some doors and I went out AT 21:24!! (I am such a bad girl!)
Although the postbox was only 7 minutes away form my house it was quite stressful situation haha. I looked on Google street view for the best ways to kinda hide myself in case needed. On my way to the postbox I bumbed into some creepy guys in an alley, so I avoided that alley on my way back. I even got passed by a police car, at that point I reached my arm to act like I was walking a dog.
I don't think I will repeat this soon but it was a nice experience.

POSTCARD ASSIGNMENT
Based on our talk, I learned that Bibi has a preference for sustainable paper, thus I came up with a postcard that is sustainable by being 'recycled' by more than two people.
MAPPING OF THE WAY
I decided to draw the elements around me that draw my attention first and are stationary there most of the time, 'representing' the place itself.
I chose the colors of the pencils randomly from a pile and the color of the sheets as well, to make it more fun.

I asked my boyfriend to draw me a map of the mailbox. He ended up drawing it very simplistically. Which makes sense because its's just around the corner.
I ended up using one of my favorite postcards to mail it to Adam.

I asked my partner if he would walk with me. As I get quite nervous, when I'm unsure about where to go.. (Lots of the mailboxes are gone at my village) and it was nice to spend some time together after we both had been working on schoolwork.
Before we left, my mom drew a map.. which was quite unique. But I'm happy she wanted to do it for me. :)

My boyfriend drew me a map. As you can see it was right around the corner.
Sounds / things I encountered along the way:
Liveliness, wind, cold air, warm rays of the sun, leaves, sounds of birds,
in the background vehicles driving on the road, people,
branches of the trees, meadows, people busy with their daily needs.

My mom gave me the challenge to not step on the outlines of the tiles while walking to the postbox. I live in a busy area in the city so when I was walking and not paying attention to my surroundings but only to the tiles it was kinda dangerous and had to slow down. I also got a lot of weird stares from people who thought I wasn't right in the head. But because I couldn't really look at the people around me I had to concentrate more on hearing my surroundings. So that's mostly what I noticed.

My card was for Kyra, so I tried to draw her dog who I saw on zoom and I tried to combine it with her photography technique. I dont think im that good at drawing so I added some meme stickers to the postcard

During my walk to the postbox I happened to be walking behind a mom and her two kids, they were of course playing and running around. But they also had these paper planes they'd made. Every now and then they would ask their mom if they could throw them, and proceeded to make predictions/bets on which one of theirs would go furthest.
I decided to join in their fantasy and chart out the path(s) their planes could have taken, being carried by the wind.
What could it pick up along the way? Could I fold and send my own letter this way?

Because I was at my parents place who live in a place with a lot of meadows I wanted to try to go to the mailbox in one straight line.
It started pretty easily and I cheated once because i had to go over a stream that was 5 meters wide. Although I was in the middle of a meadow I could see people looking at me. I thought it would be a struggle because of all the different meadows but it turned out pretty easy
A friend drew a map from my home to the postbox. And the challenge that he gave me was, that i have to go hopscotch... So I did...

The letter I made for Francis was inspired on his calm/grounded energy. We discussed a lot of thing; the move from Latvia to Rotterdam, projects we're currently working on and just life in general.
Using the dérive app to post my letter, it was an experience. I liked it, but it was kind of chaotic with my dog and the rain, so with a lil sun I think it would be even better!!! I think it might also be fun to do it with friends? Going on a walk like this and having a little picknick in between, ohyeaah!!
To the left was east, so I did that
After this I found out that I dropped the letter on my way so it was completely poured. I went home to pack it again and took the direct route to the postal point
Dana Zomer - Group F
I used google maps to track my route to the Albert Heijn. I always use my own route but this time I had my face deep in my phone and tried to follow it exactly. In the end I actually ended up making a wrong turn in the beginning and elongating my entire trip, making google maps have trouble keeping up with where I was even going.
I wish I also made something that showed the fact that I actually also went there just to do groceries for dinner.
